School Visits
I would love to come speak to your students about writing and publishing. Listening to authors talk about their journeys inspired me when I was growing up, and I’m thrilled to return to classrooms now. My workshops and discussions will help spark creativity, confidence, and imagination in all students, regardless of whether or not they want to be writers.
I’m happy to do in-person or virtual visits.
For all school visit inquiries, please contact Lena Reilly at lreilly@penguinrandomhouse.com.
What can a school visit look like?
Universities + continuing education
A school visit can take many forms, and I’ll develop a tailored offering based on your curriculum and your students. Want a peek into how that could look?
Writing Workshops and Q&A (Grades 3-12)
I'll lead your class through a writing workshop to spark their imagination and help strengthen the writing and creative skills they’re developing during the school year. This can include a Q&A.
The default workshop will focus on creative writing via fairytales, but we can discuss what works best based on what your student are currently learning.
“Princess Swap” Reading and Q&A (Grades 3-7)
I'll visit your class to read an excerpt of one of my books (of your choosing) and do a Q&A with your students. I’m happy to collaborate on creative writing and thinking exercises that your students can do after my visit.
Fairy tales are for all ages. As a former university creative writing instructor and believer that we always need more magic in our everyday lives, I’d be happy to talk with your students, college age and beyond.
A sampling of my offerings include:
Leading a fairytale-based writing workshop to supplement your current curriculum
Discussing the path to publication, how to draft and edit, and how to maintain the writing momentum
Guest-lecturing on creative writing with generative exercises
I’ve had the pleasure of speaking and teaching at organizations including the University of Arizona, Aspen Writers Network (part of Aspen Words), Tucson Festival of Books, Emerald City Comic Con, and TENWEST, among others.
